The Best Sight in Cali, Southwest Colombia

Within the rapidly expanding city (it has grown fourfold in the past 40 years) you'll find a small colonial quarter, some interesting museums, and many leafy parks. The city's tree-lined avenues and lazy open-air cafés invite you to linger. In the center is the Paseo de Bolívar, a large park on the north bank of the muddy Río Cali. To the south are the main sights, including most of the interesting old churches.

Fodor's Choice
A modern, well-kept zoo, arguably the best in Colombia, makes for an excellent family outing and an opportunity to see a range of indigenous species including Amazonian tapir and jaguars. A complete tour takes a good couple of hours and the restaurant is surprisingly good.
