The Grace Hotel
Hacienda Anacaona
Combining country rustic with colonial chic, the Anacaona is probably the best accommodation from which to explore the ruins and parks of San Agustín. Every room, though simple, has been thoughtfully decorated and serves as a perfect antidote to aching feet after hours of marveling at treasures from times past.
Hill House Hotel
Hilton Cartagena
At this hotel on the tip of the Bocagrande peninsula, the spacious, airy guests rooms can provide wide views of the city or sea, but the unattractive surroundings that lie far from the old city may disappoint. White-tile floors, pastel hues, and light wood, as well as updated baths with a rain shower, add a soothing vibe. Some rooms have great views of the terrace and its gardens and four pools, including one for kids. The beach past the impressive pool area has essentially been claimed by the hotel and is less populous than others on the peninsula, but despite touches of green remains a rather drab, gray-sand affair. Guests may feel far removed from the bustle of the old town, so decide your priorities in advance.
Hospedería Duruelo
A resort hotel located five blocks uphill from the Plaza Mayor, the hacienda-style Hospedería Duruelo offers a gracious atmosphere and amenities ranging from tennis courts to a Turkish bath. The restaurant serves standard international fare along with typical Colombian entrées.
Hospederia La Fuente
Three blocks up from the Plaza Mayor on a quiet side of town, this amiable family-run hotel is defined by its lush, green central courtyard. Your night's rest will be soothed by the sound of the gurgling fountain in the courtyard. The rooms, though simple, are spotless and well maintained. Second-floor rooms have great views over the mountains or the cobbled street outside.
Hotel 3 Banderas
In the historic and increasingly popular San Diego neighborhood in the walled town, this attractive little 19th-century hotel is a decent medium-range option. The simple and sometimes overly colorful rooms, all of which border a pleasant green courtyard, combine colonial style with modern amenities. A lounge area with an oversized Jacuzzi on the third floor offers a space to relax and take in views over the city.
Hotel Antonio Nariño
Hotel Boutique Casa Carolina
Hotel Boutique Casa Salamandra
Hotel Boutique Casona de Usaquen
On the other side of an impressive entrance gate, this once-traditional-style home is now an intimate boutique hotel in the heart of Usaquen. Rooms are impeccably clean, with new, modern furnishings, and some have the charming added touch of an electric fireplace. Generally, the quality reflects the midrange price, decent all around but lacking the refined touches---soundproofing or modernized bathrooms---to make it a resounding winner.
Great option if you're traveling with a large group.
Hotel Boutique Don Pepe
Hotel Camino Real
Built in 1591 as a women's college, this renovated colonial building off the Plaza Central has tile floors and old, though well-maintained, wooden furniture. Rooms, most of which overlook a patio, have big baths. The first-floor restaurant serves Colombian and European food.
Hotel Casa Deco
Hotel Casa Harb
Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa
Occupying the historic Convento de Santa Teresa, this 16th-century showplace inside the walled town combines colonial and republican architectural styles with colorful attention to detail, preserving the building's character from the plant-laden multistory interior courtyard to local design touches in guest rooms. Rooms and suites, sumptuously appointed with rich fabrics, some antique furnishings, and modern pieces, look out onto the ocean or the walled town. The best views are from the rooftop pool (overlooking San Pedro Claver church) and restaurant.
Hotel Dann Monasterio
This beautifully restored 18th-century Franciscan monastery wraps around a lovely courtyard with a babbling fountain. Here you'll find well-tended gardens and a view of the tower of the adjacent Iglesia de San Francisco. The rooms are filled with colonial-style furnishings, although some details are a little worn and size varies considerably. The hotel is now part of Colombia's small Dann Hotel chain, but it has kept its history in place.
Hotel de la Ópera
This pair of colonial buildings adjacent to the Teatro Colón in La Candelaria found new life as an elegant hotel. The sleek tile and polished hardwood floors throughout are remarkable, as is the chic furniture imported from Italy. The generously proportioned rooms have high ceilings and huge windows, and some have balconies that open out onto a quiet side street. The Mediterranean cuisine at the hotel's restaurant, La Scala, is wonderful, while regional dishes are accompanied by spectacular views at El Mirador, on the top floor. There is a first-rate spa, too.
Hotel El Mirador Del Cocora
The views from the hotel, which take in forested hillsides, verdant valleys, and the odd farmhouse, make this hotel a top choice in Salento. The small staff make an effort to look after their guests, and the rooms are well sized, with polished terra-cotta floors and simple modern furnishings.
Hotel InterContinental
Overlooking the Río Cali, this modern luxury hotel is popular among business travelers. Though the interior feels somewhat dated, everything is impeccable and comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful; concierge here will fill you in on Cali's hottest restaurants and nightclubs. La Terraza, one of the hotel's four restaurants, specializes in international fare.
