Fodor's Expert Review Azafrán
This character-filled spot is more than just a restaurant. Grocery shelves are stocked with local olive oils, dried herbs, smoked meats, and homemade jams; and over 80 wineries are represented by more than 400 labels in the wine bar, where an old press has been converted into a tasting table. There is no wine list, but a sommelier will help you choose the perfect pairing for your meal order. Offering a welcome break from parrilla fare, the food is fresh, nicely presented, and gives traditional Argentine cuisine a creative twist. Try the empanada selection with the accompanying wine flight or opt for the beef fillet with blue cheese and spinach wrapped in filo. The fixed-menu lunch is an excellent value.
