Fodor's Expert Review La Bourgogne
You'll be welcomed with a complimentary flute of sparkling wine and a selection of hors d'oeuvres when you take your table in this elegant dining room on the side of the famed Alvear Palace Hotel. Chef Jean-Paul Bondeaux (you may meet him as he strolls around the dining room) turns out brilliant French classics updated for modern sensibilities. While not on the menu, the kitchen will happily prepare a completely vegetarian menu. The service is impeccable, and you'll feel exquisitely cared for even as you take your leave, when the staff presents you with a breakfast treat for the next morning. The best value is the seven-course tasting menu that includes six wines—it will run you less than a three-course dinner with a bottle of wine. The wine list is extensive, focusing on the finest from France and Argentina. Jackets are recommended, though not required, for men.
