Fodor's Expert Review 42nd Street Cafe and Bistro
Inspired and creative yet unpretentious, this cozy, cheerful place serves gourmet comfort food at its best. Look for small plates such as fried-green tomatoes, Dungeness crab beignets, and Willapa Bay clams steamed in Hefeweizen, and dinner entrées such as ravioli stuffed with butternut squash and Gorgonzola, eight-hour pot roast, and lemon, crab, and shrimp fettuccine. Entrées come with house-baked bread, marionberry conserve, corn relish, and seasonal local vegetables. Razor clams and panfried oysters are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Rich chocolate-rum-truffle cheesecake is a popular dessert. The excellent wine list features Pacific Northwest labels.
