The Waterfront
For years, the waterfront was walled off from Downtown by the Alaskan Way Viaduct’s overpasses but now that’s changed. With the 2024 opening of Overlook Walk, the waterfront is accessible. Walking time from Pike Place Market to the piers is cut to mere minutes. Seattle’s newly reimagined waterfront now shines—home to cruise docks, the aquarium, arcade games, seafood restaurants, and expansive views over Elliott Bay. This transformation is part of the broader Waterfront Park project, which launched its first major spaces in 2025, offering gathering plazas, upgraded promenades, and a new public identity for the city’s shoreline.
