Fodor's Expert Review Kedron Valley Inn
4778 South Rd., South Woodstock, Vermont, 05071, USA
You're likely to fall in love at first sight with the main 1828 three-story brick building here, the centerpiece of a 15-acre retreat. There's another 19th-century building, along with a motel-style log-sided lodge dating to 1968. Many guest rooms have a fireplace or a Franklin stove, and some have private decks or terraces; even motel units are furnished with country antiques and reproductions. A spring-fed pond has a white sand beach with toys for kids. In the restaurant, the chef creates locally sourced New England dishes such as rabbit ragout and turkey potpie.
