Del Mar Fairgrounds

The Spanish Mission–style fairground is the home of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club ( www.dmtc.com) and the Del Mar Racetrack. Crooner Bing Crosby and his Hollywood buddies—Pat O'Brien, Gary Cooper, and Oliver Hardy, among others—organized the club in the 1930s, and the racing here (usually July through September, Wednesday through Monday, post time 2 pm) remains a fashionable affair. Del Mar Fairgrounds hosts more than 500 different events each year, including the San Diego County Fair and the Del Mar National Horse Show.

Nashville Fairgrounds

Wedgewood-Houston

There's something going on at the fairgrounds almost any time of the year. The 117-acre site hosts auto races at the Speedway, craft fairs, monthly flea markets, the annual Christmas Village holiday market, concerts, and other special events throughout the year. It's also where you'll find GEODIS Park, Nashville’s soccer stadium. The newest event is the 10-day Nashville Fair held every September.

Navajo Nation Fair

This fairground near the center of downtown hosts several rodeos and events throughout the year. The annual multiday July 4 celebration draws visitors from throughout the Four Corners region for its major rodeo, ceremonial dances, and a parade. The Navajo Nation Fair, much like a traditional state fair, is held in early September. It offers standard county-fair rides, midway booths, contests, powwow competitions, and a rodeo.
