Bliss

A black-and-white Parisian awning makes this Main Street boutique stand out. Inside, chandeliers add sparkle to the good-sized shopfront, where everything from all-natural personal care items and candles to "slow fashion" clothing to artisan-made home decor has panache and style. Yes, the French are famous for that, but here things have an earthy New England authenticity. Many are Maine-made, like owner-operator Susan's body care products: soaps in scents like lavender and moss, body creams, soaks, and so on. Fascinatingly, guitars and colorful ukuleles are also sold—shoppers can thank her husband, who you may find minding the store, for that.

Bonanza "World's Largest Gift Shop"

North Strip

Okay, so it may not, in fact, be the world's largest, but at more than 40,000 square feet, it's Vegas's largest souvenir store. And although it carries most of the usual junk, this peddler of pop-culture kitsch also stocks some most unusual junk. A pair of fuzzy pink dice? Check. Blinking "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign? Check. Elvis aviator sunglasses complete with black sideburns? Check. How about a battery-operated parrot with a potty mouth or a 3-inch plastic slot machine that squirts water? They're all found here, seven days a week. Check out an area of the store that contains Elvis and Marilyn Monroe gifts. As Bonanza likes to say, "If it's in stock, we have it."

Boo Radley's

Part curiosity shop, part vintage toy store, this eclectic spot is great for unusual gifts or to spend some time browsing. Original and creative toys, cards, games, T-shirts, masks, and statuettes are just some of the treasures you’ll find here.

Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co.

Park Slope

If you can't crack a smile in this store—where all proceeds from superhero costumes, gear, and secret identity kits benefit 826NYC's writing and tutoring programs for kids—step immediately into its Cape Tester, or take the cure-all Vow of Heroism oath. Afterward, browse the inventory of superpowers like telekinesis, chutzpah, and wickedness, which are sold in plastic jugs and fake paint cans. The clever labels listing “ingredients” and “warnings” are worth the cost for every ounce of the tongue-in-cheek products.

Bucks County Dry Goods

They've got the goods here—a varied, highly curated assortment of mid-century modern furniture, housewares, design books, gifts (like leather items), jewelry, and rustic-chic women's clothing. There's another location in Princeton, New Jersey.

The shopping center is also home to Wine Authorities, Two Roosters ice cream, and Person Street Bar, all excellent spots to stop in or stay awhile.

The English Lavender Farm

Part of the fun of browsing the lavender-infused essential oils, honeys, salted caramels, soaps, sachets, and other products here is visiting the pastoral Applegate Valley farm, which is about 20 miles southwest of Jacksonville. Although it's only open a few days a week in June and July, the farmstead has two big festivals each summer, and they sell their products throughout much of the rest of the year at farmers' markets in Jacksonville, Medford, and Grants Pass.
