The Apple-obsessed will be happy to know that this location is open 24/7, holidays included. Display walls and tables are lined with iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and AirPods, and pretty much any device that the company manufactures or sells. There are often special programs here, so check the website. Make an appointment (well in advance) at the Genius Bar if you need tech help. There also are several more Apple Stores across New York City, including in Grand Central Terminal's Main Concourse and a SoHo location in a converted Beaux-Arts post office building.

Apple's flagship San Francisco store is a two-level, open-air tech temple to Macs, iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches, and the people who use them. Inside, it's more about getting your iPhone fixed at the Genius Grove, but outside everyone is using those phones to take pictures of the modern structure.

Archie Bray Foundation

Since 1951, many of the nation's best ceramic artists have come to work in residency at the Archie Bray Foundation. Wander near the five antiquated, 8-foot-high, dome-shaped brick kilns on a self-guided walking tour. Be sure to visit the gift shop, which sells work produced by foundation artists. Call first in case it's by appointment only that day; the gallery is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Once an icon of Little Italy's shopping scene, Architectural Salvage moved to a new location in 2024 under new ownership but with the same attention to detail. If you have any interest in home design and renovation, this shop that specializes in reusing old materials should be top of your list. The space is filled with unusual building and decorative materials, as well as items that come from various time periods throughout the 1900s. Products range from vintage glass doorknobs, antique mirrors, stunning stained glass, and much more.
