The Castle

Everybody’s welcome on the dance floor at this famous Ybor City club that's only open on weekends and has catered to the alternative set for three decades. Friday nights The Castle hosts its iconic Midnight Mass, a night of Goth and industrial music. Every Saturday, DJs play a wide range of genres, including Goth, new wave, electro, industrial, dark wave, and EBM (a type of alternative electronic dance music). In addition to embracing musical—and personal—diversity, this multilevel venue has several bars offering a good selection of single malt scotches, small batch bourbon, aged tequilas, and beers from around the world, including several local craft brews.

The Cat and Fiddle

Hollywood

A British pub might look out of place in Hollywood, but the Cat and Fiddle's punk-rock influence and 43-year stint give it more than enough street cred. Besides, classic pub grub like fish-and-chips, bangers and mash, and shepherd's pie are a nice counterpoint to L.A.'s vegetarian and gluten-free offerings. There have been a few changes over the years, but it remains the perfect spot to just grab a pint and a savory pie or to satisfy one's inner Anglophile. There's even afternoon tea during the weekends.

Cavaña

Mission Bay

The almost 360-degree views of San Francisco and the bay are dazzling at this hip rooftop bar high atop the LUMA Hotel. Firepits and strategic wind barriers make this one of the warmer outdoor SF drinking destinations. Charleston Pour House

The heart of Charleston's live music community lies off the peninsula at this colorful club decorated with murals. Touring acts like the Robert Jon & the Wreck play the main stage nightly, while the sprawling outdoor deck hosts family-friendly concerts by local musicians every early evening.
