Carpe Diem

This small but mighty record store offers an impressive collection of vintage vinyls, antique doodads, and art. Run by the same folks as Kimbro’s Pickin’ Parlor next door, it definitely has a similar vibe: curated junk, gritty rock and roll, and down-home family lovin’.

Johnnie Q

No, you haven’t died and gone to earring heaven. You’ve just stepped into Johnnie Q, a shop with so many beautiful pieces of handmade jewelry and vintage accessories, you may briefly feel transported to a higher sartorial plane. Featuring the designs of jewelry makers from across the United States and Canada (including five local designers), every piece is totally unique and certifiably eye-popping.

Landmark Booksellers

There are so many rows of bookshelves filling out this snug bookstore, you’ll feel like you’re burrowing through tunnels of leather-bound volumes. Landmark Booksellers specializes in old, out-of-print, and rare books, but they have some new books, as well. You’ll find plenty of Southern Americana here, as well as books that focus on regional history, culture, and literature. And all 35,000 books are nestled inside the oldest standing commercial building in Franklin (built in 1808). It’s a bibliophile’s dream.

Lynchburg Hardware & General Store

More a souvenir shop than a hardware store, here you'll find lots of Jack Daniel’s memorabilia and other local products. It's a good place to stop after visiting the distillery, as you won't find any souvenirs there. However, you won't find any booze here, so if you want to bring some home from the source, best to buy it at the distillery.

McKay's Nashville

Bellevue
This two-story warehouse is the used-media mecca of the South. You can buy, sell, or trade everything from books to movies, CDs, records, games, electronics, and even instruments. If you’re overwhelmed by the sheer number of aisles to explore, start with the bookshelf next to the stairs. That’s where you’ll find new releases that are up for grabs.

Rare Prints Gallery

For rare botanical prints, vintage maps, and lithographs dating back to the 1500s, Rare Prints Gallery is second to none. Don’t be too intimidated by the art-gallery-meets-museum air of the place. From medieval lynx prints to Vanity Fair covers from 1871, they have something for every price range.

White's Mercantile

This folksy-chic boutique has the feel of an upscale general store. Owned and curated by country singer/songwriter Holly Williams (daughter of Hank Williams Jr.), every item reflects her style. There are decanter sets with deer and geese on them, candles scented like leather and tobacco, and flannel throw pillows fit for any frontiersman with taste.
