Why We Like It

Cool in an unpretentious way, this boutique hotel embodies the borough it calls home. We love the emphasis on sourcing locally in Brooklyn--from custom wallpaper to bath products to what’s stocked in the minibar. A stay isn’t complete without witnessing sunset from the rooftop bar. Reynard not only serves consistently excellent food, but is a great spot for people watching, too.

Fodor's Expert Review

A former cooperage on the Brooklyn waterfront found new life as The Wythe Hotel, a stunner of a property for its Manhattan-skyline views and Brooklyn-sourced design touches and amenities. The hip atmosphere extends beyond the stylish rooms, with a destination restaurant and super chill rooftop bar. There's also a gigantic, neon sign outside that just reads "HOTEL," in case you forget what kind of building you're in.

Room

The polished, concrete floors have under floor heating, which is excellent, and local, custom-patterned wallpaper, rooms have a distinct Brooklyn sensibility. Surround sound can be controlled by your iPhone, which is also a distinct Brooklyn sensibility. Size varies from value-focused bunk rooms to huge suites.

Tip Rooms facing Manhattan’s skyline have incredible views, but views facing Brooklyn often offer good value.

Bathroom

Sleek and minimal, bathroom walls are lined with white subway tiles, walk-in showers, and patterned tile floors. Bath products are from the organic Brooklyn brand, Goldies.

Lobby

The factory building dates back to 1901, and in the renovation, the hotel utilized reclaimed pine from the original structure. The lobby is an open, sunlit space with exposed brick walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a few small areas to sit.

Dining

The cozy ground-floor restaurant, Reynard, has won a place in the hearts of locals—and it’s not only because of the free Wi-Fi. This bright, welcoming space is ideal for a meal or coffee at any time of day.

You Should Know There is no room service here. The rooftop bar is very popular, often causing a line to form in the lobby waiting for access.

Drinking

The sixth-floor rooftop bar has signature cocktails and stunning skyline views.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The Wythe Hotel is centrally located for exploring Williamsburg and neighboring Greenpoint, but is about a 10-minute walk away from the nearest subway station, the Bedford Avenue L train stop. Visitors that are happy to explore this neighborhood on foot may not mind the lack of wide ranging public transit options nearby, but those looking to venture further afield may not find it to be the most convenient location. Taxis and Uber are numerous in the area.

Restaurants

Located in a former auto body shop, Lilia (9-minute walk) is an Italian restaurant that made a big splash on the local dining scene with its excellent housemade pastas (try the sheeps milk filled agnolotti with saffron). The Bedford (4-minute walk) serves upscale pub food from Brooklyn lager battered fish and chips to grass-fed burgers. Get to Fette Sau (15-minute walk) way before you’re actually hungry, as there is usually a line for this BBQ-by-the-pound restaurant. It’s worth the wait - don’t miss the brisket and burnt end baked beans.

Bars

Hotel Delmano (4-minute walk) has intimate nooks and a long list of creative drinks - it's an old New York inspired cocktail bar, and not actually a hotel, despite the name. For live music and German beers on draft, join the convivial atmosphere at Radegast Hall and Biergarten (10-minute walk).
