Glen House Hotel

$$ | 979 Rte. 16, Gorham, NH, 03581, USA Fodor's Choice

The latest of four Glen House hotels that have stood on this site at the base of the Mt. Washington Auto Road since 1852, this upscale three-story retreat opened in 2018 in a Shaker-inspired building whose soaring windows, a yellow clapboard exterior, and simple lines hark back to its predecessors. Designed with state-of-the-art eco-friendly engineering, it's also very much a contemporary take on classic New England hotels, with spacious rooms, some with balconies that afford sweeping views of the towering mountain beside it. Amenities include a pool and outdoor patio and firepit, and the bar and restaurant serve well-prepared modern American fare.

Pros
