With the amenities and available concierge services of a luxury resort, Aolani House is the perfect escape for the high-end traveler who wants privacy and serenity. The infinity pool, hot tub, and 1200 ft elevation views of the ocean are just a few of the things that make this house a real treat. Stunning photography and resin art pieces by contemporary artist and home owner Anna Sweet add a special level of opulence. The cozy Coffee House is a reflection of the nearby five acres of coffee and mac nut farms and has its own special charm, including grill, fire pit, and hot tub. Both houses were built by the same builders as the Hualalai Four Seasons Resort.
Though there are additional costs, take advantage of the house’s concierge services. They can handle dinner and excursion reservations, grocery shopping and cooking, and can even take care of adding some extra romance to the house for when you arrive.
The rooms inside Aolani House are charming and sophisticated, with ocean and garden views, depending on where you are in the house. Mahogany floors and chic décor add to the opulence of this 4 bedroom, 4 bath house. The Coffee Cottage is equally as delightful and relaxing, with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths.
YOU SHOULD KNOW The only perk missing from this luxury getaway is central heat and air, but with ceiling fans, plenty of windows, and throw blankets, you’ll never even notice.
Bathrooms are chic and have lovely natural elements throughout including stone and wood. There are four baths in the Aolani House, including jacuzzi tub in the master bath and two baths in the Coffee Cottage. In addition to the lavish indoor bathrooms, there is an outdoor shower near the hot tub at Aolani House.
Aolani House has an incredible infinity pool, perfect for watching the sunset, as well as a hot tub. The Coffee House has its own private hot tub.
The concierge service can arrange a variety of massages and facials, to be administered poolside or wherever you like.
There is no on-site restaurant but there is a delightful coffee nook, full-sized, modern kitchen with two outdoor grills and optional grocery shopping and personal chef services at Aolani House. The Coffee Cottage also has a full-sized, fully stocked kitchen, a grill, and the same optional services as Aolani House.
You’ll need a car to get to your accommodations and around the island.
Holuakoa Restaurant (7-minute drive) is a slow food restaurant that sources lots of its ingredients locally (most within five miles of the restaurant) and changes its menu regularly based on the season and available ingredients. At Lava Lava Beach Club (50-minute drive) you’ll find a menu that includes happy hour specials, daily fish preparations, and island twists on classic foods like hamburgers and ribs all right on the beach. The bar is also a big draw, with delicious and strong cocktails (the “Big Bamboocha” will definitely get your vacation started well) and a nice wine menu.
The Big Island’s newest brewery, community-owned Ola Brewery (18-min drive), offers brewery tours and tastes. Be sure to try the White Pineapple Cider! With lava flow and mai tai flights (they have 10 different kinds), there’s plenty to love at Don’s Mai Tai Bar (16-min drive). Thursday nights are particularly fun as they host a weekly Hawaiian music series.
