Masters Tournament. In early April, Augusta hosts the much-celebrated annual Masters Tournament, one of pro golf's most distinguished events. It's broadcast in 180 countries. Tickets for actual tournament play are extremely limited for the general public, but you can try to get tickets for one of the practice rounds earlier in the week—which, for golf addicts, is still hugely entertaining.

The Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Tournament, is known for its exclusivity. Membership is handed down through families, so unless you know someone, you aren't going to get to play there, much less get a glimpse of the grounds. However, there are plenty of other golf courses in this golfer's town.

Masters Tournament and practice-round tickets are awarded on a lottery basis; apply online at www.masters.com by June 1 of the year preceding the tournament. Augusta, Georgia. 706/667--6700; www.masters.com.
