Fodor's Expert Review Barnsley Resort
597 Barnsley Gardens Rd., Adairsville, Georgia, 30103, USA
This award-winning resort features luxurious and comfortable accommodations, a brand-new 55-room inn, a championship golf course, a boutique spa, elevated on-site cuisine, horseback riding, the Beretta Shooting Grounds, and miles of nature trails. Located just 20 miles from Rome, Barnsley Resort is a relaxing getaway. The grounds and gardens were part of an 1840s estate built by Godfrey Barnsley, a wealthy British cotton factor. Barnsley was obsessed with creating ornate gardens for his wife, who did not live to see the home's completion. The mansion lies in ruins, creating a romantic backdrop for the gardens. Entrance to the gardens is included with the daily resort fee.
