Riverside Arts Market

Riverside

The merchandise is one of the draws at this market, held Saturday from 10 to 3; the unique location is another. It's tucked under the soaring bridge that carries I--95 over the St. Johns River, a block from the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and a healthy walk along the Riverwalk from Downtown. Singles, couples, and families (and their dogs) all come to shop for locally created art and crafts; sample bites from food trucks and other vendors, including some excellent area restaurants; and check out street performers or the live music shows on the riverfront stage. Quality is high in every aspect—artists and vendors all go through a fairly rigorous application/audition process—and what there is to see or hear or eat varies from week to week. There's also a farmers' market, with licensed farmers and growers selling everything from just-laid eggs and local honey to salad greens that were still in the earth the day before. Because it's sheltered by the bridge, RAM goes on rain or shine. Free parking is available at adjacent businesses, and a "bike valet" service encourages people to arrive on two wheels.

Robert Is Here Fruit Stand and Farm

This historic stand and farm sells more than 100 types of jams, jellies, honeys, and salad dressings along with farm-fresh veggies and dozens of tropical fruits. The list of rare finds includes carambola, lychee, eggfruit, sapodilla, and tamarind. Try them in a smoothie or milk shake.

Rosemary Beach

The community's "downtown" has great shops clustered mostly on Barrett Square and Main Street. It's easy to stroll from boutique to toy store to gift shop to home decor showroom—and take a coffee break at Amavida Coffee & Tea or stop at a restaurant if you're in need of greater revivification.

Savi's Workshop–Handbuilt Lightsabers

The Seam Shoppe

Take home a shopping bag full of scarlet hibiscus, fuchsia heliconia, blue parrotfish, and even pink flamingo fabric chosen from the city's widest selection of tropical-print fabrics.

Lots of shops in the Keys sell cheesy souvenirs—snow globes, alligator hats, shell-encrusted anything—and this is the granddaddy of them all. But at this sprawling building in the median of the Overseas Highway, you'll also find high-end clothing, jewelry, housewares, artwork, and keepsakes that range from delightfully tacky to tasteful.

SpongeBob StorePants

Universal Studios

With its cartoonish nautical theme (pink jellyfish overhead, a pineapple home in the middle of the store), this silly shop will have you stocking up on weird, fascinating SpongeBob merchandise from mugs to shorts to swimwear.

St. Armand's Circle

No visit to Sarasota is complete without a visit to this busy yet laid-back shopping hub—literally and figuratively, as it's arranged around a large traffic circle in the middle of Lido Key. (Trivia: it was developed by John Ringling.) You'll find a sprinkling of upscale retail chains, including White House Black Market, but the area's small, imaginative boutiques are the real draws. St. Armand's Circle also offers plenty of dining and dessert (especially ice cream) options, nightlife, and just plain people-watching.

St. Augustine Premium Outlets

Just north of St. Augustine, off I–95, is this collection of designer and brand-name outlets including those for Vans, Under Armour, and Kate Spade. There's also a Nike Factory Store.

St. Johns Town Center

Southside

With more than 175 dining and retail establishments, this outdoor "lifestyle center" is huge, and some of its shops aren't found anywhere else in northeast Florida. Look for Anthropologie, Apple, LEGO Store, Lululemon, Nordstrom, Peleton, Sephora, and Tesla. Restaurant choices range from fast-food places to sit-down restaurants such as the Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, The Capital Grille, and Maggiano's Little Italy.

Star Traders

Magic Kingdom

One of the largest shops in the Magic Kingdom, Star Traders trades on the purchase of all things Disney. Toys, pins, T-shirts featuring favorite characters like Mickey, Stitch, and Mike from Monsters, Inc. can be found here, as well as Goofy caps and oversize Mickey gloves. So much to see—so much to buy!

Star Wars Galactic Outpost

Disney Springs

Who knew that the 1977 film that spawned an industry of collectible merchandise would get a significant boost when Disney obtained the franchise in 2012? Since then Disney's creative, marketing, and merchandising genius has been applied to a range of spin-off films, as well as an array of new products, many of which are for sale in this popular West Side shop. While there are hundreds of shirts, hats, masks, toys, plushes, costumes, action figures, art, and mugs—with nearly every item featuring Luke, Leia, Hans, Darth, Chewbacca, Yoda, and company—the most popular display is the rack of (not your average) lightsabers designed for the Star Wars connoisseur, with prices surpassing $250.

Sundog Books

This independent bookstore will have just the beach read for you to while away the hours in the sand or on the porch. It's crammed full and can get very busy, but the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. If you're into vinyl, Central Square Records is upstairs.

Super Silly Stuff

Universal Studios

Talk about truth in advertising: this colorful gift shop tied to Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is filled with what seems to be millions of cute minions (both one-eyed and two-eyed) on T-shirts and mugs and in the form of stuffed dolls. Gru fans can also find a black-and-gray scarf like the one worn by the supervillain. If you feel it's too hot in Florida for the actual scarf, buy a T-shirt with one silk-screened onto it.

Sweat Records

For a timeless version of an old-fashioned favorite, visit Sweat Records, one of Miami's last remaining record stores. Sweat sells a wide range of music—rock, pop, punk, electronic, hip-hop, and Latino—as well as turntables and vinyl accessories; there's also Miami's only vegan, organic coffee shop on the premises.
