40 Best Hotels in Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast, Florida

Background Illustration for Hotels

Palm Beach has a number of smaller hotels in addition to the famous Breakers. Lower-priced hotels and bed-and-breakfasts can be found in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and Lake Worth. Heading south, the ocean-side town of Manalapan has the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. The Seagate Hotel & Spa sparkles in Delray Beach, and the posh Boca Beach Club lines the superlative swath of shoreline in Boca Raton. In the opposite direction there’s the PGA National Resort & Spa, and on the opposite side of town on the ocean is the Marriott on Singer Island, a well-kept secret for spacious, sleek suites. Even farther north, Vero Beach has a collection of luxury boutique hotels, as well as more modest options along the Treasure Coast. To the west, towns close to Lake Okeechobee offer country-inn accommodations geared to bass-fishing pros.

The lobby, with soaring cypress ceilings, underscores The Brazilian Court's Roaring '20s origins. Although not directly on the beach, car service and access to an oceanfront facility allow guests to enjoy plenty of beachside fun in the sun. All the studio and one- and two-bedroom suites have rich limestone baths and showers, wine refrigerators, and personal butler service; bay windows look out into the impeccably maintained gardens and enchanting flower-filled courtyards. The rooms all recently underwent a redesign that includes lush green velvet headboards and sofas that add a bold nod to the palms just outside, while white linens and pops of lavender brighten the space. The Breakers Palm Beach

$$$$ | 1 S. County Rd., Palm Beach, FL, 33480, USA Fodor's Choice
The Breakers Palm Beach, Palm Beach
Courtesy of The Breakers Palm Beach

More than an opulent hotel, The Breakers is a legendary 140-acre self-contained jewel of a resort built in a Mediterranean style and loaded with amenities, from a 20,000-square-foot luxury spa and grandiose beach club with four pools and a half-mile private beach to 10 tennis courts, croquet courts, and two 18-hole golf courses. Henry Flagler's descendants still run the place and invest $25 million a year to keep it at the cutting edge. Dating from 1896 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the common areas have water nymphs frolicking at the main fountain, and majestic frescoes grace hallways leading to restaurants. The equally lovely rooms take on a different, more contemporary character and are best described as cheerfully sophisticated with a classic style. For added luxury, there's the 25-room, private-access Flagler Club, a "guest house" within the hotel with added amenities like a private lounge, plush decor, and car service via the club's Tesla. One of the most extensive wine collections in the world is housed here, keeping the hotel's six sommeliers busy, and the resort's ten restaurants and eight bars are all excellent. In addition, the property's historic par-70 Ocean Course, the oldest 18 holes in all of Florida, as well as its contemporary off-site counterpart, The Breakers Rees Jones Course, are open to members and hotel guests only; for those looking to learn on the green, the John Webster Golf Academy offers private and group lessons. With all that's going on at The Breakers, it's a miracle if you can ever pry yourself off the property.

Pros

  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Beautiful room views
  • Extensive activities for families

Cons

  • Big price tag
  • Short drive to reach off-property attractions
  • Pools can get crowded

Dotted with coral lounge chairs, umbrellas, and white-sand beaches, this contemporary resort looks as if it were carefully replicated from a retro-chic postcard. An annex of the larger Mediterranean-style The Boca Raton (but set on the downy sands rather than the Intracoastal Waterway), the casually elegant property has 210 rooms, ranging from 420-square-foot standards to 800-square-foot one-bedroom suites overlooking the Atlantic. The rooms and suites showcase a spectacular design featuring honed marble and cerused woods complemented by vibrant coral velvet accents. Each room features a wet bar complete with a water filtration system so you can refill your water bottle for on-the-go hydration, flat-panel TVs, plush bedding, Acqua di Parma bath products, complimentary beach bags and flip-flops, and—most important—easy access to the sand and sea. Guests can lounge by a trio of revamped swimming pools with cabanas and a bar, or linger with a cocktail and leisurely lunch in the on-site Marisol, or you can consult your personal concierge for suggestions. The Boca Raton

$$$$ | 501 E. Camino Real, Boca Raton, FL, 33432, USA Fodor's Choice
Addison Mizner built this Mediterranean-style hotel in 1926, and additions over time have created a sprawling, sparkling resort, one of the most luxurious in all South Florida and a destination unto itself. The hotel has a particularly stunning private beach, which it shares with its beachfront outpost, Beach Club at The Boca Raton. There is also a stunning pool area with a lazy river, slides, bars, and a restaurant that both kids and adults can enjoy. In 2022, the resort underwent a complete overhaul with a $200 million facelift that gave all rooms and common areas a refresh. There are a variety of lodging options: Cloister at The Boca Raton features traditional rooms in the historic quarters that are small but warmly decorated; Tower rooms have a serene contemporary feel; the adults-only Yacht Club rooms include floor butlers, complimentary breakfast, and access to a fine-dining restaurant; and Bungalows are ideal for longer stays, with family-friendly layouts. The beach is accessible by shuttle or water taxi, creating a unique experience that makes a day at the beach feel like an adventure. In addition, there are two fitness centers; the tennis center, Racquet Club, with 14 tennis courts and 12 pickleball courts; one 18-hole golf course (an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary), driving range with Trackman Range, and a pro shop; and Spa Palmera, with 44 treatment rooms and a Turkish-style bath. This exuberant and undeniably charming British-colonial-style hotel has spacious suites and chic decor and sits in a particularly convenient location, just one block from Worth Avenue and one block from a pretty beach on the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel underwent a five-year, $18 million top-to-bottom renovation in 2015 and rooms got a refresh in 2022. Taking inspiration from the hotel’s signature de Gournay wallpaper, rooms are done in soft pinks, greens, and ocean blues, and they have modern amenities mixed with vintage Palm Beach style. The pool area has ornamental plants, fountains, furniture, and pale pink umbrellas reminiscent of South Beach's grand art deco hotels. The pool itself is actually shaped like the state of Florida, although the panhandle is severely reduced in size. A signature Beach Buggy program shuttles guests to and from the ocean in a custom Palm Beach Pink buggy. An attentive staff, youthful yet experienced, is buzzing with competence and a desire to please. Those who crave luxury in its full glory (rooms with ultraswank tilework and fixtures, marble vanities, seamless shower doors plus access to a spa, pools, and beach club) will love this LEED-certified hotel with a subtle Zen-coastal motif. Although the hotel dates back to 1911, everything, including its private off-site beach club feels fresh. A saltwater pool, one of the first in the area, was grandfathered in during the remodeling and is a highlight of the beach club. Water-sports rentals are available year-round, and the restaurant is perfect for a leisurely lunch. Back at the hotel, a quiet infinity pool can be found adjacent to the spa, and it's hard not to be smitten with the aquariums peppering the common spaces; four in total, with the centerpiece being the lobby's 2,500-gallon tank, they are home to a wide range of creatures, from beautiful lionfish to slithering moray eels, and the concierges have fact sheets on the inhabitants for you to peruse. Casa Grandview West Palm Beach

$$ | 1410 Georgia Ave., FL, 33401, USA

In West Palm's charming Grandview Heights historic district—and just minutes away from both downtown and the beach—this warm and personalized B&B offers a wonderful respite from South Florida's big-hotel norm. With 17 eclectic units spread over a city block, Casa Grandview's principal "inn," cottages, and suites exemplify Florida architecture through the decades circa 1919–49 but come equipped with plenty of modern-day amenities, too. Each unit or room has its own name, personality, furnishings, and history. Grantham's Library Suite, for example, is in the former kitchen of the 1925 Spanish Mediterranean home and adjacent to the extensive house library. With the likes of Florida Craftsman cottages, 1948 art deco cabana-bungalows, and the principal inn—a conjoined 1919 Spanish-mission home and 1925 Mediterranean-revival home refitted with modern amenities—Casa Grandview keeps Florida's fledgling history in style.

It's part of Disney's time-share program but also rents available rooms just like any other hotel.

The artfully conceived four-story main building, separate villas, and six beach cottages are reminiscent of 19th-century Florida, and you will find hidden treasurers related to sea turtles and Florida's rich history. All rooms come equipped with wet bars, mini-refrigerators, toasters, and microwaves; upgraded rooms offer full kitchens and laundry facilities. Although there are not too many dining options in the immediate area, the resort has some great eateries of its own: Shutters serves American food and has character breakfasts on Saturday morning, and Sonya's has wood-fired steaks and creative seafood. The highest rates here are in the summer, so spring, fall, and winter (except for two weeks in March) are perfect times to find deals.

Pros

  • A great pool with waterslide and kiddie splash pool
  • Campfire circle
  • Several dining options on property

Cons

  • Far from shopping and dining options
  • Minimal Disney-theme decor
  • Disney prices

Dockside Inn

$ | 1160 Seaway Dr., Fort Pierce, FL, 34949, USA

This hotel is the best of the lodgings lining the scenic Fort Pierce Inlet on Seaway Drive (and that's not saying much); it's a practical base for fishing enthusiasts, with nice touches like two pools and a waterfront restaurant. Spacious, simply furnished units on two floors have kitchens or wet bars, and the staff puts fruit and Danish in the rooms each morning. Some rooms have a waterfront porch or balcony. A small cluster of apartments is across the street, away from the water and very quiet. Overnight boat docking is available for an additional $30 per night, and there's a sports outfitter at the marina with boat charters.

Pros

  • Good value, great views from the grounds
  • Overnight boat docking available
  • Reasonable rates at marina

Cons

  • Basic decor
  • Some steps to climb
  • Grounds are nothing too fancy

The Driftwood Resort

$ | 3150 Ocean Dr., Vero Beach, FL, 32963, USA

On the National Register of Historic Places, the two original buildings of this 1935 inn were built entirely from ocean-washed timbers with no blueprints; over time more buildings were added, and all are now decorated with such artifacts as ship's bells, Spanish tiles, a cannon from a 16th-century Spanish galleon, and plenty of wrought iron, which create a quirky, utterly charming landscape. The resort operates as both a time-share and a regular hotel (the website is just for informational purposes, so you must call to book rooms), and the complex has nine buildings on the beach with both modern and historic rooms and two swimming pools. It attracts guests from around the world, who sit in wooden rockers facing the beach, and extended-length stays are available. Waldo's restaurant and bar are on property, with several other choices across the street as well. Live music on weekends draws crowds to the pool.

Pros

  • Central location right on the beach
  • Laundry facilities
  • Weekly treasure hunt is a blast

Cons

  • Older property
  • Rooms can be musty
  • No-frills furnishings

Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort, Golf & Marina

$$ | 555 N.E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL, 34996, USA

With a 77-slip marina, a full water-sports program, a golf course, two pools, tons of tennis courts, and children's activities, this self-contained resort is excellent for families, most of whom prefer to stay in the tower directly on the ocean. Nevertheless, the main building on the Intracoastal Waterway (or Indian River, as it is called here) has a lovely, spacious pool courtyard and shuttle transport to the beach. The rooms have quality fixtures like granite vanities, plush bedding, and soothing beach-accented decor. Wet bars are in all guest rooms, and the rooms in the beachside Sandpiper building have kitchenettes. The staff here are genuinely friendly and interested in making you feel at home—so much so that they'll organize children's activities even if yours are the only kids on the property. At the resort's golf-centric Ocean Club, you'll find 18 holes, a warm-up aqua range, and a putting green for members and hotel guests only. The only thing this hotel doesn't have is a wide range of eating options (there's an outdoor café at each pool, and there's just one indoor sit-down restaurant), but it gives you more of an excuse to try the great local cuisine.

Pros

  • Attentive, warm staff
  • Rooms are comfortable and casually chic
  • All rooms have balconies

Cons

  • Common areas are a bit dated
  • No spa
  • Daily resort fee
