One of the hot spots in the base village is the colorful Cheeky Monk, which bills itself as a Belgian beer café.
For a bit of local color, head down to Fraser and the rustic and inviting Fisher's Bar. Owned by a local brother-and-sister duo, this bar and eatery is filled with local memorabilia and antiques, as well as lots of TVs, which draw sports-loving crowds. Locals still show up for the cheap beer during happy hour, as well as for the excellent burgers. In warmer months, the outdoor picnic area has a horseshoe pit.
This small, friendly bar has 20 taps; the beers run $4 to $9 each, and there's a short list of specialty cocktails and a half-dozen wines by the glass. The austere but cozy setting includes pinball machines, a pool table, and wall-mounted TVs. Guests are welcome to bring in snacks from the food trucks that pull up outside on the weekends.
The under-30 crowd tends to hang out at the lively Winter Park Pub, grooving to local bands.
This tavern provides the closest thing to real nightlife in the area. Ullrs Tavern's small, somewhat ramshackle space attracts a younger crowd, with live music on the weekends, a DJ other nights, and a handful of pool tables. A small grill inside the tavern called The Spot ($) serves decent pub grub, including sandwiches and wings.
