Fodor's Expert Review Dry Creek Vineyard

Healdsburg Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Sauvignon Blanc marketed as Fumé Blanc brought instant success to the Dry Creek Valley's first new winery since Prohibition, but this area stalwart established in 1972 receives high marks as well for its Zinfandels, Bordeaux-style red blends, and Cabernet Sauvignons. In the nautical-themed tasting room—Dry Creek has featured sailing vessels on its labels since the 1980s—you can choose an all–Sauvignon Blanc flight, an all-Zinfandel one, or a mix of these and other wines. A vineyard walk and an insectary garden enhance a visit to this historic producer, a fine place for a picnic under the shade of a magnolia and several redwood trees. You can reserve a boxed lunch two days ahead through the winery, a time-saver on busy weekends.
