Fodor's Expert Review Bombay Peggy's
2nd Ave. and Princess St., Dawson City, Yukon, Y0B 1G0, Canada
Named and fashioned after one of the last of Dawson's legal madams, Peggy's is done in elaborate Victorian gold-rush style, with heavy, plush draperies, rich color schemes, and claw-foot tubs and pedestal sinks in the bathrooms. In the evening, sherry, port, and sweets are served in the parlor, and on summer mornings fresh croissants are delivered; locally roasted coffee and tea are available in the rooms. The adjoining pub serves martinis with racy names along with single-malt Scotches. On nice evenings, the outdoor patio is the place to be.
PROS
- an engaging step back in time
- nice touches such as fresh croissants and "Sherry Hour"
- fun on-site pub
CONS
- no elevator
- small, social parlor can feel crowded
- three upstairs rooms, known as the Snugs, share a bathroom
