St. Anthony
The northern part of the Great Northern Peninsula served as the setting for The Shipping News, E. Annie Proulx's 1993 Pulitzer Prize–winning novel. St. Anthony is built around a natural harbor on the eastern side of the Great Northern Peninsula, near its tip. If you take a trip out to the lighthouse, you may see an iceberg or two float by, and it’s a good spot for whale-watching.
