Panama may be a commercial cen ter, but its arts scene is lacking. There are occasional dance or classical music performances in Teatro Nacional and jazz or Latin music can be found at various bars and nightclubs. For information on concerts, plays, and other performances, check out the listings in the free tourist newspaper called The Visitor or the ATP website (www.visitpanama.com).

Las Tinajas is an attractive Panamanian restaurant with a convenient location in the financial district that offers a folk-dancing show every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. The hour-long show starts at 9 pm and costs $5—plus you need to consume $12 worth of food and drink. Reserve ahead of time and arrive early to choose a good table, since the stage is at the center of the room and not all tables have great views.
