Emporio Acapulco
All of the rooms at this hotel are comfortably spacious, with marble floors and bathrooms, modern contemporary furniture, and balconies with ocean views. The lobby, restaurant, and bar are comfortable for both guests dressed up for a night on the town and families in shorts and T-shirts. There are two pools with swim-up bars—one is geared to families, with a waterslide, while the other is strictly for adults. The all-inclusive plan is a good deal, especially if you're planning to spend most of your time at the resort pools and beach, but there are some restrictions about what and when you can eat (each restaurant has a different schedule, not all are part of the AI plan, and not all dishes and drinks are covered, though many are).
Fiesta Americana Villas Acapulco
In the thick of the main Costera shopping and restaurant district, this hotel is popular with tour groups and singles. All are welcome, of course, because there's really something for everybody here. It has a lively lobby bar and is on Playa Condesa, one of the most popular beaches in town. Pastel-color rooms have light-wood furniture and tile floors.

Grand Hotel Acapulco
This large hotel is popular with business travelers, conventioneers, and—thanks to its bold Caribbean color schemes and striking design—TV producers, who have opted to use it as the backdrop for many a Mexican soap opera. It has four outstanding eateries, a spa, and a deluxe shopping area. It's also the only hotel in Mexico with an on-site synagogue (it's Orthodox). The west side of the property insulates you from the noise of the nearby naval base.
Hotel Elcano
Restored to its original 1950s glamour, this perennial favorite has bright and cheery rooms with white-tile floors and modern bathrooms. There's a beachside restaurant with an outstanding breakfast buffet, a more elegant indoor restaurant, and a gorgeous pool that not only seems to float above the bay, but also has whirlpools built into its corners.
