Fodor's Review

This leading ecotourism and conservation wildlife refuge offers spectacular bird-watching and excellent naturalist-led hikes, as well as a turtle-protection project and nature-education program in the local school. You can stay at the cabins and poolside rooms or on platform tents in the jungle, or just come for the day to walk the forest and mangrove trails ($8 self-guided trails), zip through the canopy on cables, climb trees, or stake out birds on an observation platform (tours from $25).

The EcoTram, designed by Don Perry, inventor of the Rain Forest Aerial Tram, makes a canopy tour accessible to all. Instead of being harnessed to a zip-line, you can ride, at your own speed, in an individual chair suspended from a cable, high above the forest trails.
