66 Best Hotels in The Central and Southern Aegean Coast, Turkey

Background Illustration for Hotels

Hotels along the Aegean coast range from international-standard luxury properties and city-center corporate options to artsy or historic boutique hotels, and from rather stark lodgings for local business travelers to family-run bed-and-breakfasts or pansiyons (guesthouses). Almost everywhere offers free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning (but check before booking), and most include breakfast in the price—a basic spread usually consisting of cucumbers and tomatoes, tea, instant coffee, eggs, feta cheese, bread with jam and butter, and watermelon in summer. The Bodrum and Çe?me peninsulas are infamous for A-list hotel prices to match their swanky clientele, with world-class resorts frequented by international glitterati, especially around Bodrum. ?zmir has luxury options, too, mostly a bit more sedate. If you don’t care about certain amenities (pool, spa, interior design), decent and reasonably central budget options are almost always available, even in the fanciest destinations.

Lodging in small towns like Selçuk and Gümü?lük tends to be less expensive, and often has more local flavor. To get the best deal, check prices on the hotel’s website or a third-party booking site, then call or email the hotel in advance to see if they’ll quote you a better rate. Hotels listed here are generally honest, helpful, and hospitable, and many will gladly offer advice on visiting local sites. Always ensure that a hotel’s location suits your requirements: central for walkable sightseeing or remote for pure relaxation. If you’re arriving by public transportation, ask in advance how best to travel from the bus station to the hotel. You’ll need your passport to check in, so if you think a day trip might turn into an overnight stay, take it along.

Hotel Bella

$$ | St. Jean Cad. 7, Selçuk, 35920, Türkiye

One of Selçuk's best-located hotels, this older establishment has a spacious terrace overlooking the St. John Basilica opposite (and a stork nest in season) that makes a fine setting for breakfast only. All rooms are clean and some rooms have balconies, but all are quite plain and spare with very small bathrooms. Be sure to ask for a room with a basilica view—it's worth the small premium you'll pay. The hotel front is beautifully covered in ivy, but the reception door is easy to miss beside an independent Ottoman decorations shop. Overnight parking is free, but available until the tour buses arrive in the early morning.

Pros

  • Great location near sights and restaurants
  • Large upstairs outdoor terrace
  • Free shuttle service to Ephesus

Cons

  • Some rooms are small and dark
  • Bathrooms are cramped
  • Not the best place for kids

$$$ | Yelaltı Mah. Yıldızpark Sok, No:22, Urla, Türkiye

Here you'll find five tastefully decorated rooms in the spirit of a restored 1870 Ottoman mansion, but with well-appointed modern facilities. The house garden is the setting for a generous breakfast or cafe service in the day. It's centrally located, with all the dining and street attractions of the town a few minutes walk away. Parking is on the street or in local car parks.

Pros

  • Modern bathrooms
  • Located in town
  • Comfortable rooms

Cons

  • Rooms on small side
