Fodor's Expert Review Centro de Interpretación del Misticismo
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
The only such museum of its kind in Europe, this center is devoted to mysticism, the practice of religious ecstasy made famous by Ávila's native daughter, St. Teresa—one of Christianity's first female mystics. Exhibits explain the role of mysticism in Judaism, Christianity, and a number of Eastern religions. The exterior of the building, a medieval house, is original, but the giant prism ceiling that reflects light throughout the interior is obviously a new addition.
