Puerto del Carmen

Most beach-bound travelers to Lanzarote wind up in the sandy strands of the Puerto del Carmen area, the island’s busiest resort. The small fishing port and historic marina (called El Varadero) are surrounded by numerous cafés and restaurants, with the main commercial center behind them. The charming Puerto Carlero, 6 km (4 miles) west, is the newest addition to the resort and makes a quieter base.
