Fodor's Expert Review Glengarry Castle Hotel

Off A82, Invergarry, Highland, PH35 4HW, Scotland

Tucked away in Invergarry, this rambling baronial mansion is 7 miles south of Fort Augustus and within easy reach of the Great Glen's most popular sights. The alluringly old-fashioned rooms have traditional Victorian decor, while some more expensive rooms have superb views over Loch Oich. The restaurant serves delicious three-course dinners (£35)—expect modern Scottish cuisine using local lamb, beef, venison, duck, and hake. On the grounds are the ruins of Invergarry Castle, a seat of the MacDonnell clan. The hotel entrance is close to the junction of A82 and A87.
