Oitavos Dunes. American architect Arthur Hills built this fine golf course among pine woods and reforested dunes in an area of great natural beauty. The course is consistently rated as one of the top 100 in the world. It lies within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, and Hills made the most of three distinct landscape forms: umbrella pine forest, dunes, and the open coastal area. Every hole has a view of the Atlantic Ocean. This was the first course in Europe to be recognized as a Golf Certified Signature Sanctuary, which is awarded by American Audubon International.
