Language

Luxembourg is a linguistic melting pot. Although its citizens speak Lëtzeburgesch (Luxembourgish), a language descended from an ancient dialect of the Moselle Franks, they are educated in German and French, completing higher studies in French. The younger generation also learns English and is, for the most part, easily conversant. The language used for government documents is French, but many are translated into German as well; a simple church service will often include German, French, Luxembourgish, and a trace of Latin. Within the travel industry, most Luxembourgers you'll meet will speak some English with you, but they'll talk about you in Luxembourgish.
