Teatro Politeama Garibaldi

The shamelessly grandiose, neoclassical Teatro Politeama Garibaldi, home of the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, stages a season of opera and orchestral works from October through June.

Teatro Regina Margherita

The theater in Caltanissetta has a rich history, dating back to 1870 when construction began on the site of a former 14th-century church. Intended to be named after Princess Sofia, its dedication shifted to Princess Margherita due to the unification of Italy. The theater opened in 1875 with a performance of Verdi's Macbeth, predating several other more famous Sicilian theaters. Despite periods of success and private management, the theater faced challenges throughout the 20th century, including a decline in the 1930s and an extended closure for renovations starting in the 1970s. Now reopened, it hosts many cultural events, from modern concerts to classic operas.
