Fodor's Review

In the quieter part of Trastevere, the family-run Da Enzo is everything you would imagine a classic Roman trattoria to be. There are just a few tables, but locals line up to eat here–-a testament to the quality of the food. The classics are truly exceptional, from the carbonara to the cacio e pepe. Start with carciofi all giudia (Jewish artichokes), mozzarella- and anchovy-stuffed zucchini flowers, and fresh burrata that arrives daily from Andria in Puglia. The coda alla vaccinara (oxtail stew) is the absolute standout of the secondi, made the old way with a hint of cocoa. Finish with the marscarpone mousse served with wild strawberries. Because it's so small, there's almost invariably a wait, but it's worth it.
