Fodor's Expert Review La Terra Hotel

Via Gaspare Petrarolo 16, Ostuni, Apulia, 7201717, Italy

It doesn't get more historic than this 14th-century noble residence, where spacious, tastefully decorated rooms and a cocktail-perfect, colonnaded rooftop loggia offer character and comfort aplenty. Rooms are white and uncluttered, with classic dark-wood furniture; some have wood-beamed ceilings and great views over the old town. The on-site Ristorante San Pietro is known for its fish dishes, including pasta alla scoglio (liberally heaped with mixed seafood).

PROS

  • inside the walls of the old city, near all sights
  • great seafood restaurant
  • some rooms have superb views

CONS

  • parking outside town (with shuttle service)
  • street can be noisy in high season
  • standard rooms look a bit tired
