Fodor's Expert Review Rivalda
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
On summer nights you can choose to dine outside in an 18th-century courtyard or in the restaurant's rather rococo interior—with poplin stage curtains, theatrical masks, and peach-colored walls. The location couldn't be more romantic, on a quiet street in the Castle District. The food is a lighter take on Hungarian cuisine, with some excellent seafood dishes including cream of pumpkin bisque with smoked salmon, and fillet of pike perch. A terrific place for a celebration, whether intimate or with a group, Rivalda has a substantial vegetarian menu, still something of a rarity in Budapest.
