Fodor's Expert Review La Maison de Katrin
Hidden away in the Dilou quarter, this is one of the most reputable restaurants on the island, featuring the best of both French and Greek cuisine—which makes it well worth the search to find it. Fine food and excellent, hospitable service keep people coming, in spite of the prices. Appetizing starters include a fish carpaccio with aromatic herbs in a delightful vinaigrette, and mussels with tomato and basil and prawns in an Hellenic cream sauce. Then move onto a tasty sea bass steak, baked with tomato sauce, or try the chateaubriand with grilled vegetables. Desserts are equally impressive, including a no-bake cheesecake topped with organic raspberries and a perfect creamy chocolate secret-recipe cake. The gourmet dining experiences can be enjoyed at outdoor tables lining the narrow street, while the lovely whitewashed interior features Cycladic arches and a faded 16th-century tapestry from Constantinople.
