This company's philosophy is all about sustainability. For 40 years, they've been selling handcrafted products of all kinds—from housewares to fashion—which share a few simple standards: high quality, timeless design, and are made to last. Sharing the space is Brot & Butter (Bread & Butter), a delicatessen and food shop.

Bayerischer Kunstgewerbe–Verein

Altstadt Fodor's Choice

At this gallery showcasing Bavarian work from craftspeople, you'll find every kind of handicraft, from glass and pottery to textiles.

Handwerkerhof

Fodor's Choice

Step into this "medieval mall," in the tower at the Old Town gate (Am Königstor), and you'll think you're back in the Middle Ages. Craftspeople are busy at work turning out the kind of handiwork that has been produced in Nuremberg for centuries: pewter, glassware, basketwork, wood carvings, and, of course, toys. There are plenty of drinking and eating options, too.

Alte Apotheke Keramikstube & Café

Inside the Old Pharmacy, the tiny Keramikstube offers locally made crafts, books, gifts, and beautiful traditional handmade pottery (shop closed on Sunday). There is also a café on-site which is open daily.

Waffenkammer

Housed in a building dating from 1371 and filled, appropriately, with Medieval swords, shields, pistols, and armor, this Middle-Ages-themed shop offers goods that are all made on the premises by a skilled blacksmith, along with period-accurate clothing and figurines and prints of historic Rothenberg made from the original copper plates. There’s also a selection of locally made bottled period drinks, such as mead honey wine, as well as a basement pub where they are served.
