Fodor's Expert Review Klub der Republik

Prenzlauer Berg Dance Club

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Although Klub der Republik takes its name from the late Palast der Republik, the magnificent work of soviet architecture that used to stand just south of Alexanderplatz, it has little else to do with Cold War–era Berlin. The decor includes a sampling of retro-kitsch furnishings taken from the Palast, but otherwise it's fashion-forward. Large glass panels overlook Prenzlauer Berg's Pappelallee from its second-floor room (accessible by a fire escape staircase in the back courtyard), and there's a rotating list of local DJ talent.
