The Best Hotel in Georgia

Background Illustration for Hotels

Each passing year brings a new major hotel brand to Georgia. Radisson, Marriott, Courtyard, and Sheraton have all set up shop, but, locally, a new generation of hoteliers is working hard to match or surpass them in service, comfort, and technology. In fact, demand exceeds supply, making advanced reservations for rooms during peak season almost essential. In the countryside, accommodations remain relatively humble, with simple pensions, guesthouses and B&Bs as the norm, although with progressively more luxurious features the closer they are to tourist areas.

Dzveli Batumi

Lodgings with a personal touch can be found at this small inn run by husband and wife Gocha and Irina Meskhi in the center of the old town. The rooms thoroughly embrace a retro vibe, with red and brown fabrics and semi-antique furnishings (flatscreens need not apply) that seem pre-independence either by design or practicality. Nonetheless, it stands in charming contrast to the surrounding glass and steel of the refurbished city, and the views out the windows onto the clusters of neighboring appartments gives a sense of Batumi behind the scenes. The family feel also means mom-cooked breakfasts in the morning.
