Prades

It may be easy to bypass Prades en route to the region's high peaks, but to do so would mean missing out on this authentic market town. Farmers, artists, vendors, and loyal shoppers descend from the tiny surrounding villages each Tuesday to sustain the vibrant stalls. Serenely positioned at the foot of the imposing north face of Mont Canigou, Prades is also a great jumping-off spot for mountain excursions.
