The best time to visit the so-called cheesiest town in Yorkshire is on Tuesday, when farmers crowd into town for the weekly market. Crumbly, white Wensleydale cheese has been made in the valley for centuries, and it’s sold in local stores and at the market. Allow time to explore the cobbled side streets, some of which are filled with antiques shops and tearooms.
