Bank Ground Farm
Used by Arthur Ransome as the setting for Swallows and Amazons, 15th-century Bank Ground is beautifully situated on the eastern shore of Coniston Water, opposite the village of Coniston on the western shore; this old-fashioned working farm now has six rooms and four cottages. Some rooms are family rooms, and the cottages with kitchens are a good option for longer stays. A guest lounge has an open fire. The Swallows and Amazon Cafe, open to the public, offers breakfast and lunch.
