Fodor's Expert Review Feathers Hotel

25 High St., Ledbury, Herefordshire, HR8 1DS, England

You can’t miss the striking black-and-white facade of this centrally located hotel, which dates from the 16th century. Its interior has a satisfyingly antique flavor, with wooden beams, creaking staircases, and ancient floorboards, and some rooms have four-poster beds. The hop-bedecked Fuggles Brasserie (named after a variety of hop) and the more formal Quills restaurant serve plenty of fresh fish, as well as lighter meals.

PROS

  • rooms retain period feel
  • indoor heated pool
  • afternoon tea available

CONS

  • some rooms on the small side
  • steps to climb
  • may be a bit creaky for some
