Petra tou Romiou is an infamous rock formation on one of the most spectacular coastlines in Cyprus. According to mythology, the area is revered to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and fertility. According to another legend, Petra tou Romiou is also associated with the Byzantine hero Dighenis Akritas who is said to have thrown the rocks into the sea to keep the plundering Saracens away from his love interest.
When there was every reason in the world to stay away and see the ruins, one woman traveled to Greece to get to work.
