The Best Restaurant in Zagreb, Zagreb and Environs

Background Illustration for Restaurants

For budget fare, leave the main square, Trg bana Jela?i?a, and go up the steps toward Dolac (the main market). Halfway up the steps on your right is a row of bistros where you can get everything from bureks (a savory cheese- or meat-filled pastry) to simple pizzas to Balkan-style grilled meats for around half what you'd pay at a modestly priced restaurant. And do remember, though Zagreb is not exactly overflowing with budget sandwich shops, traditional bakeries have long fulfilled that role for locals; at such places, which are on practically every street corner, you can pick up a burek for as little as 10 Kn a piece.

Namaste Bistro

$ | Donji Grad

The masters behind the delicious dishes at Namaste are a group of chefs hailing from various regions of India. Their love for the food is reflected in an extensive varied menu with masala dosas and other vegan options, as well as meaty choices such as duck vindaloo. Several desserts are not to be missed, if you still have space after the hearty portions offered.
