46 Best Hotels in Turks and Caicos Islands

Background Illustration for Hotels

The Turks and Caicos can be an expensive destination. Most hotels on Providenciales are pricey, but there are some moderately priced options; most accommodations are condo-style, and not all resorts are family-friendly. You'll find a sprinkling of upscale properties on the outer islands—including the famous Parrot Cay—but the majority of places are smaller inns and private self-contained villas. What you give up in luxury, however, you gain back tenfold in island charm. Though the smaller islands are relatively isolated, their quiet ambience and "beauty by nature" is what makes them so attractive.

Resorts: Most of the resorts on Provo are upscale; most are condo-style, giving the option of preparing some meals in or having a private chef prepare something extra special for you. There are two all-inclusive resorts on Provo—Club Med and Beaches. A few resorts are closed for a short period during the fall for maintenance. Be sure to double check if your heart is set on a particular property.

Small Inns: Most of the more modest inns with fewer amenities are on the outlying islands, with a few such options on Provo. Some are devoted to diving.

Villas and Condos: Villas and condos are plentiful, particularly on Provo, and usually represent good value for families. However, there are also larger villas that are fully staffed for those looking for the ultimate in pampering or wish a more exclusively private venue for their special event. Many of the more popular properties book up to two years in advance, so you need to plan ahead to get what suits you best.

Pelican Beach Hotel

$ | Whitby, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

North Caicos islanders Susan and Clifford Gardiner built this small, palmetto-fringed hotel in the 1980s on this quiet and almost deserted beach in Whitby, and the couple's friendliness and insights into island life help create a full island ambience. The spa offers massages, facials, and a wide range of other services. Rooms are simple and comfortable, putting you steps away from the beach. Beds vary, as do amenities—some rooms have a fridge.

Pros

  • Fantastic on-site beach bar
  • The owners make you instantly feel at home
  • Perfect spot to get away from it all

Cons

  • Basic room style
  • Location may be too remote and sleepy for some

Point Grace

$$$$ | Grace Bay Rd., Grace Bay, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

Built with a turn-of-the-20th-century British colonial feel, the dark mahogany, granite, marble, and teak create a sense of warmth and comfort within each of the 28 luxurious one- to four-bedroom suites and penthouses. The resort is divided between those within the more traditional hotel-style buildings and romantic Caribbean cottages that skirt the opposite side. Antique furnishings, four-poster beds, and art reproductions lend classic style and elegance. Quaint (albeit posh) wooden cottages, set back off the dunes of Grace Bay Beach, house a European-style thalassotherapy spa. During your treatment, French doors are open to the fresh sea breeze and views of the blues beyond. Other highlights include Grace's Cottage and the resort’s pool bar.

Pros

  • Quiet and peaceful environment
  • Beautiful pool with bar
  • Luxurious spa

Cons

  • Can be extremely quiet (signs around the pool remind you)
  • Decor is dated
  • Service can be inconsistent

Salt Raker Inn

$ | Duke St., Cockburn Town, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

An unpretentious inn filled with island character and charm, this 19th-century house was built by shipwright Jonathan Glass in the 1850s, complete with its quirky nautical features. A large anchor on the sun-dappled pathway marks the entrance, and a large, breezy balcony with commanding views over the sea gives one the sense of what living on Grand Turk must have been like for those during the salt raking era, keeping watch over the comings and goings on land and at sea. Although ground floor rooms are shaded havens, they have no sea views. The two rooms upstairs share a balcony—a fabulous spot to watch the sun set and the donkeys that stroll the beach. One of the inn’s best features is the hidden garden of tall tamarind and neem trees, with climbing vines, hanging and potted plants, and a tiny pond, home to the Secret Garden Restaurant.

Pros

  • Ambience and character
  • An easy walk to everything on the historical waterfront
  • Perfect spot to completely unwind

Cons

  • Lacking amenities you might expect
  • Dated furnishings and fittings

Sands at Grace Bay

$$ | Grace Bay Rd., Grace Bay, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

Spacious gardens and winding pools set the tone for one of Provo's most family-friendly resorts, a 6-acre beachfront spread with helpful service and excellent amenities that include a spa, a good-size fitness room, water sports, tennis, basketball, and on-site dining. Sparkling ocean views from huge screened-in patios and floor-to-ceiling windows are best in the oceanfront suites in Blocks 3 and 4, which are closest to the beach. Two free-form swimming pools meander through the center of the resort, and the third is oceanfront, taking in water views and refreshing breezes. Beach toys are available for the kids, including swim noodles and buckets with shovels.

Sibonné Beach Hotel

$$ | Princess Dr., Grace Bay, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

Dwarfed by most nearby resorts, the smallest hotel on Grace Bay Beach has snug (by Provo's spacious standards) but pleasant rooms with Bermudan-style balconies and a tiny circular pool that's hardly used because the property is right on the beach. As one of the first hotels built on Grace Bay, it's in a prime location, offering basic rooms with simple island decor only steps from the water’s edge. Rooms on the second floor have airy, vaulted ceilings; downstairs rooms have views of and access to the lovely courtyard garden, replete with palms, yellow elder, and exotic birdlife. The popular beachfront Bay Bistro serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Book early to get one of the two simple value rooms or the beachfront apartment; all three are usually reserved months in advance.

Pros

  • Closest property to the beach
  • The island's best bargain
  • Small and unimposing

Cons

  • Pool is small and dated
  • Some rooms have a double bed
  • Lacks amenities

Staying at this true B&B, one of just a few in all the Turks and Caicos, gives you a feel for the way the Caribbean used to be, without requiring you to give up comfort. Sleepy, quiet, and charming, it does feel like a home away from home, but with a better view, given its prime Front Street location. The home is updated with all the modern conveniences, including air-conditioning, satellite TV, and some colonial-style furnishings mixed with bamboo and rattan; each suite has a full kitchen, two TVs, and a DVD player.
