22 Best Hotels in Turks and Caicos Islands

Background Illustration for Hotels

The Turks and Caicos can be an expensive destination. Most hotels on Providenciales are pricey, but there are some moderately priced options; most accommodations are condo-style, and not all resorts are family-friendly. You'll find a sprinkling of upscale properties on the outer islands—including the famous Parrot Cay—but the majority of places are smaller inns and private self-contained villas. What you give up in luxury, however, you gain back tenfold in island charm. Though the smaller islands are relatively isolated, their quiet ambience and "beauty by nature" is what makes them so attractive.

Resorts: Most of the resorts on Provo are upscale; most are condo-style, giving the option of preparing some meals in or having a private chef prepare something extra special for you. There are two all-inclusive resorts on Provo—Club Med and Beaches. A few resorts are closed for a short period during the fall for maintenance. Be sure to double check if your heart is set on a particular property.

Small Inns: Most of the more modest inns with fewer amenities are on the outlying islands, with a few such options on Provo. Some are devoted to diving.

Villas and Condos: Villas and condos are plentiful, particularly on Provo, and usually represent good value for families. However, there are also larger villas that are fully staffed for those looking for the ultimate in pampering or wish a more exclusively private venue for their special event. Many of the more popular properties book up to two years in advance, so you need to plan ahead to get what suits you best.

On the island's northwest point, this exclusive hideaway's accommodations are minimalistic yet luxuriously appointed, with stand-alone tubs and rain showers, private bar area, surround-sound systems, 12-meter private pools, natural gardens, and reflection pond or ocean vistas. The two- to six-bedroom Aman Villas offer the ultimate in personal space, with Asian-influenced, understated elegance—each has its own personal chef and housekeeping staff. In the common areas each element has been carefully situated to take full advantage of large pools catching reflections of treetops and magical starlit nights, or sweeping shoreline views. This private paradise, on its own island, pairs tranquility with stellar service and features exquisite oceanfront villas along the beach, with an Asian-inspired look that contrasts with the simple hillside terra-cotta and stucco building that houses the rooms and spacious suites. Expect sorbet, cold bottled water, and cold, lemon-scented refreshment towels around the beach and pool. The villas are the ultimate indulgence, with heated lap pools, hot tubs, and butler service. The Meridian Club

$$$$ | TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands Fodor's Choice
Meridian Club, Pine Cay
Courtesy of The Meridian Club

On one of the most beautiful beaches in Turks and Caicos, the Meridian Club is the place to de-stress—guest rooms lack phones and TVs (even cell-phone use is frowned upon, though there is Wi-Fi throughout the resort), and the simple beachfront rooms and cottages, most of the staff, and what is perhaps the world's smallest airport (in truth, a gazebo with thatched roof) have all stayed pretty much the same over the years. Choose from the 12 oceanfront rooms, two cottages, or one of the private homes around the island. The 2½-mile (4-km) stretch of beach is deserted, and instead of roads, you find nature trails and sun-dappled paths that crisscross the island, which can be explored by bike or on foot. Here you'll feel not isolated, but part of a small community. There’s a dining hall next to the pool where guests meet at mealtime—or at the bar. The food is excellent, with fresh seafood and delicious sweets served at lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea. Guests are mostly overstressed executives, mature couples, and honeymooners; a large percentage are repeat visitors. Children over 12 are always welcome, but those between 6 and 12 are allowed only in June and July and over the Christmas and New Year's holiday period.

Pros

  • One of the finest beaches in the Caribbean
  • Rates include exceptional food
  • Perfect place to completely unwind

Cons

  • No TVs or phones—you're truly unplugged here
  • Expensive to get back to Provo
  • The simplicity comes at a cost

Beach House Turks and Caicos

$$$$ | 218 Lower Bight Rd., The Bight, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands Fodor's Choice

On the quieter, western end of Grace Bay, this intimate adults-only, all-suites resort has a unique Caribbean air, and its full all-inclusive experience extends to sister properties The Alexandra and Blue Haven. Instead of numbers, the spacious suites have playful names like "Delight" and "Elated." It manages to balance an aura of exclusivity with a warm and friendly vibe, courtesy of the helpful staff. Check out the exotic yet subtle coconut room scent, too! Spacious balconies are a definite plus at this quiet retreat; you'll enjoy views over acres of natural dunes, as well as one of the widest stretches of Grace Bay, accessed through a stroll along the weathered wooden boardwalk reminiscent of childhood vacations. Alternatively, there are five units set in two-story cottage-style buildings with garden and pool views; the pool and restaurant are set behind their three-floor hotel-style building, as is the gym and tiny beachside spa; treatments may be indoors or experienced alfresco. This gorgeous boutique hotel is one of only a few on Provo where the units are not privately owned, and since it doesn't have to accommodate condo owners, you are more likely to get a room request honored.

  • Adults only means peace and quiet around the pool and on the beach

Cons

All of the flora at Rock House is local to the island, and blends perfectly with the modern and neutral design. Sailrock

$$$$ | Turks and Caicos Islands Fodor's Choice

This resort's goal is to provide “barefoot luxury” and every detail has been carefully thought through. The villas offer complete privacy (some are more than a mile away from the Great House lobby and come with a rental car) plus elements of old-world charm mixed with comfort and convenience. Open-plan living spaces—where the warmth of wood and neutrals blend to create uniquely designed furnishings—include full, modern kitchens. Bedrooms have en suites with coral stone showers, and large terraces with private pools command views of the deep blues beyond. Room packages include a greeter at Provo airport who will assist with your transfer to the included domestic flight and pickup and ground transfer once you're on the ground in South Caicos. The property owns 700 acres on the island and maximum capacity is less than 100 guests. If you are staying on Provo, consider booking a day pass to visit Sailrock. With pickup and drop-off at your Provo hotel, round-trip flights on interCaribbean, ground transfer to and from Sailrock and use of all amenities and water-sports equipment and, of course, those unequaled views, it's a $175 per person well spent.

Pros

  • Huge property offers absolute privacy
  • Incredible luxury and unparalleled level of service
  • Fun beach bar with excellent food

Cons

  • May be too remote for some
  • Not much to do

The Somerset on Grace Bay

$$$$ | Princess Dr., Grace Bay, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands Fodor's Choice

This luxury resort offers a laid-back unpretentiousness, meaning you don't have to dress up to go to the pool—an infinity-edge dipping zone at the end of a 138-foot reverse-current lap pool with underwater speakers. Spanish turquoise tiles make it a centerpiece that sparkles; at night it looks as if it's lit by stars. From studios to five-bedroom suites and villas, all accommodations are equipped with such extras as Xbox, wine chillers, and Viking appliances, including a washer and dryer. The Estate Villas are the most stunning, with cathedral ceilings and private hot tubs outside on the balconies. The beachfront is one of the best in Grace Bay. Other top draws include complimentary kids' club activities; two excellent restaurants, Barbetta House and the more casual Pool Bar; and Spa Tropique, with a romantic couple's massage room.

Blue Haven Resort and Marina

$$$$ | Marina Rd., Leeward, Turks and Caicos Islands

Luxurious Blue Haven is the only resort on the far eastern end of the island, overlooking the beauty of au naturel Mangrove Cay and the mega-yachts moored dockside. This 51-suite all-inclusive condo hotel is directly on Leeward Channel, an active waterway between Provo and the string of little cays to the island’s east. With a hint of the Dutch Antilles in its exterior ambience, Blue Haven is a full-service resort: two restaurants on-site, Fire & Ice and the Salt Bar and Grill; The Market, offering groceries and other sundries plus a wonderful little café; excursion companies and water-sports operators; two bars; a fitness facility; and beach volleyball. The free-form infinity pool allows for minimal distinction between the creature comforts of such a refined resort and the wild side of what lies beyond Provo. In addition, Big Blue Unlimited—the island’s premier diving and ecoadventure company—is conveniently located adjacent to the resort. The luxuriously appointed suites all offer full kitchens and balconies overlooking the water, and the more economical premier guest rooms include a microwave and bar fridge, but no balcony. Coral Gardens

$$$$ | Penn's Rd., The Bight, Turks and Caicos Islands

The best off-the-beach snorkeling directly in front of Coral Gardens makes this resort and its large condo units a very popular spot. Each suite has floor-to-ceiling sliding windows, some with full sweeping views of the entire bay. Be sure to check their site plan when booking, as the on-site restaurant, Somewhere, partially blocks the view of several units, and late-night gatherings can create a less-than-peaceful atmosphere. With its close proximity to the ocean’s edge, it is amazing that the gardens and property have continued to look manicured and well taken care of over the years. All one- to three-bedroom condo-style rooms have bamboo-and-wicker furnishings with tropical prints; couches and beds are chosen for comfort. Throughout the resort, bathrooms include spacious showers, and the Ocean Club Grand suites have soaker tubs. There are two pools on the property, and guests have access to the fitness center and spa at the associated resort, the Reef Residences. It is worth noting that the two resorts share facilities, even though there are separate websites and check-in receptions; be sure you know what you are booking when contacting reservations. There's a seven-night minimum during peak season, and a three-night minimum at other times. Book for a week and your rate includes two 20-minute de-stress massages.

Pros

  • Resort fronts the best off-the-beach snorkeling spot on Provo
  • Spacious rooms all have ocean views
  • On-site restaurant and bar is one of the liveliest spots on the beach

Cons

Grace Bay Club

$$$$ | Bonaventure Crescent, Grace Bay, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

The stylish Grace Bay Club has always been a number-one choice on Providenciales, constantly meeting the demands of the discerning visitor and staying consistently ahead of all expectations, and the helpful, attentive staff and unpretentious elegance have helped it to retain a loyal following. The architecture is reminiscent of Florence, with terra-cotta rooftops, shaded courtyards, and garden fountains. The resort is defined by three distinct sections: The Hotel, an adults-only accommodation; The Villas Suites, a spacious family-friendly slice; and The Estate, a family-friendly “über-luxe” experience that's a separate entity within the resort. Each has its own pool. Grace Bay Club has four dining options, from intimately elegant to casual. Families staying at The Hotel enjoy not only a large pool plus a bar and grill, but also an impressive range of children's activities through Kids Town: water sports on-site, kayaking trips, and all sorts of "edutainment" to keep even teenagers occupied. At the exclusive Estate, ground-floor suites are extra spacious, and some have plunge pools.

Point Grace

$$$$ | Grace Bay Rd., Grace Bay, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

Built with a turn-of-the-20th-century British colonial feel, the dark mahogany, granite, marble, and teak create a sense of warmth and comfort within each of the 28 luxurious one- to four-bedroom suites and penthouses. The resort is divided between those within the more traditional hotel-style buildings and romantic Caribbean cottages that skirt the opposite side. Antique furnishings, four-poster beds, and art reproductions lend classic style and elegance. Quaint (albeit posh) wooden cottages, set back off the dunes of Grace Bay Beach, house a European-style thalassotherapy spa. During your treatment, French doors are open to the fresh sea breeze and views of the blues beyond. Other highlights include Grace's Cottage and the resort’s pool bar.

West Bay Club

$$$$ | 242 Lower Bight Rd., The Bight, TKCA 1ZZ, Turks and Caicos Islands

A prime location on a pristine stretch of Grace Bay Beach just steps away from the best off-the-beach snorkeling makes this elegant, contemporary resort with two restaurants and a landscaped pool a top pick. Rooms are appointed with dark-wood furniture, comfortable couches, and marble tiles, complemented with hues of blue and a touch of tropical prints. A decent breakfast is included, and a few good restaurants are within walking distance. This a sister property to Grace Bay Club.

Pros

  • Suites have beach views
  • Amazing luxury for the price
  • On the widest section of Grace Bay Beach

Cons

  • Secluded location away from shopping
  • Only in-room spa treatments available
