Hidden in an unassuming strip mall you'll find a wonderful Colombian eatery—Bonaire’s best hole in the wall. The owners specialize in Colombian fare and offer fresh locally caught fish along with other regional items. Try the house-made avocado sauce on your fish or chicken. The lomito (beef) is a house favorite, as is the whole red snapper in creole sauce. Choose the fried yuca as a side. House-made desserts include a sublime tres leches cake.

This little dining spot in the town center features Continental, Caribbean, and Indonesian fare, and the throngs of regulars would not dream of visiting Bonaire without a meal here. Diners can enjoy their meal on the sidewalk or inside. Popular bar dishes include Wiener schnitzel and fresh fish with saffron sauce. The lobster bisque is sublime. The intimate stucco-and-brick dining room, presided over by a copy of the famous painting of the lady with the mystic smile, is decorated with Dutch artwork, lace curtains, and ceiling fans. The bar is popular with locals, but visitors will feel at home under the care of Hank, the bartender. The bar menu, available outside or at the bar, features a fish item, saté, or a meat choice. Leave room for their house-made desserts, especially the passion-fruit cheesecake.

Chef Wil uses locally grown produce and fish from the sea, presenting a creative menu for his discerning clientele. The house-smoked marlin is delectable. Their wine list is impressive as well. The dining room is a harmonious blend of terra-cotta tile floors and rattan furnishings around a limestone half-moon bar. There's also a brick terrace for alfresco dining. Chef-owners Miriam and Martin are especially proud of their Dutch kibbeling (fish in a beer batter served with chili sauce). Those in the know order the Antillean fish soup, a delightful blend of fresh seafood and finely diced carrots and cucumber. The display of local art on the walls changes constantly. It's quite far from downtown, but the view of the lagoon and intimate ambience mean it is definitely worth the drive.
