19 Best Hotels in Aruba

Background Illustration for Hotels

Hotels on the island are categorized as low-rise or high-rise and are grouped in two distinct areas along L.G. Smith and J.E. Irausquin boulevards north of Oranjestad. The low-rise properties are closer to the capital, the high-rises in a swath a little farther north. Hotel rates, with the exception of those at a few all-inclusives, generally do not include meals or even breakfast. The larger resorts are destinations unto themselves, with shopping, entertainment, and casinos.

Holiday Inn Resort Aruba

$$$ | J. E. Irausquin Blvd. 230, Palm Beach, Aruba Fodor's Choice

This resort's massive lemon-yellow buildings that sprawl across a pristine stretch of Palm Beach offer a revelation compared to what most might think a Holiday Inn stay might entail—inviting rooms, a fun vibe, and distinct sections that will appeal to those looking for quiet active fun or a family-friendly environment. The rooms, though not luxe, feel fresh and higher floor options can offer impressive sea views. But it’s the design of the outdoor areas that impress the most, with inviting water circuits seamlessly spilling onto one of the best sea swimming spots on Palm Beach, largely because it's completely cordoned off from noisy motorized water sports. On-site dining is also a cut above, with spots like Da Vinci Ristorante and Agave Mexican Cuisine. All-inclusive and bed-and-breakfast plans are available.

Pros

  • A small, modern on-site casino adds to the entertainment options
  • Kids stay free and enjoy an excellent kids' club
  • Right across the street from the best Palm Beach nightlife

Cons

  • Not all rooms have sea views
  • Shade palapas need to be reserved and rented
  • Reception can be busy with big groups

Riu Palace Antillas

$ | J. E. Irausquin Blvd. 77, Palm Beach, Aruba

Riu bought this property, formerly the Westin Hotel, in 2014, right next door to its other Palm Beach family-friendly all-inclusive Riu Palace. But this one is rare for Aruba: an adults-only all-inclusive, though more are planned in the future. The tower structure is not a typical Riu design, but sea views from most rooms are great, and the Westin’s original pool area and water circuit is extensive. A bonus is that guests at the adults-only can also avail themselves of all the facilities next door at the sister resort, giving them far more choices of dining, entertainment, and activities. And it also has its own nightclub.

Pros

  • Adults only (18+, and 21+ during spring break season)
  • 24/7 all-inclusive room service
  • Free Wi-Fi

Cons

  • Not all rooms have a sea view
  • Beach right next door to busy family RIU
